The hydraulic oil of the excavator plays the role of lubrication and buffering. The oil needs to be filtered regularly and maintained strictly according to its service life.Hydraulic excavators usually need to replace the hydraulic oil within the specified time. Failure to replace it in time will affect the normal operation of the system. . According to statistics, most of the failures of hydraulic systems are caused by system pollution.


The following will introduce to you the steps and precautions for replacing the hydraulic oil filter element of the excavator.

Preparation work

1.Be familiar with the working principles, operating procedures, maintenance and usage requirements of the hydraulic system, and be aware of it and do not act blindly;

2.Prepare new hydraulic oil according to the equipment instructions;

3.Prepare tools for disassembling each pipe joint, oil filter for adding new oil, hydraulic system filter element, etc.;

4.Prepare cleaning fluid, brushes and silk cloth for wiping;

5.Prepare oil drums to hold waste oil;

6.Choose a flat and solid site to ensure that the machine can rotate without obstacles when the bucket and bucket arm are fully extended. The boom will not touch any obstacles after it is fully raised. The distance from the power line should be > 2m. ;

7.Prepare 4 sleepers to block the tracks front and rear;

8.Arrange staff as needed.

Things you should pay attention to when selecting filters (filter elements) for excavators

1.The performance of diesel filters is graded according to ISO standards.In addition to performance testing according to SAE standards, the air filter element must also undergo bench testing to meet the original air intake resistance and other requirements of the engine's rated air intake;

2.A qualified oil filter must comply with the original design of engine cylinder pressure, oil temperature, flow, viscosity and equipment usage conditions, etc., and the comprehensive balance of core quality must be considered;

3.The hydraulic oil filter element is marked on the manufacturer's product sample or nameplate with a nominal filtration accuracy, not an absolute filtration accuracy. Only the β value measured through a general test can indicate the filtration capacity of the filter;

4.The hydraulic oil filter element should also meet the pressure loss requirements (the total pressure difference of the high-pressure filter is less than 0.1PMa, and the total pressure difference of the return oil filter is less than 0.05MPa) to ensure the optimization of flow rate and filter element life;

5.When selecting filters (filter elements), you can choose original parts or brands with good reputation and high reputation. It should be noted that the selected filter element must be inspected to see if it meets the performance indicators it should have.


Methods and steps for replacing hydraulic oil and filter elements in excavators

1.Place the boom parallel to the direction of the crawler track, and then stop after turning 45° to the left, so that the piston rod of the bucket cylinder is fully extended and the piston rod of the bucket rod cylinder is fully retracted. Slowly lower the boom so that the bucket Put the bucket on the ground, then turn off the engine, open the fuel tank bleed valve, pull each operating handle back and forth, and step on the pedal several times to release the residual pressure in the system caused by its own weight;

2.Use gasoline to thoroughly clean the pipe joints, the joints between the pump and the motor, the oil drain plug, the top filler cap of the fuel tank and the bottom drain plug and their surroundings;

3.Open the oil drain valve and the oil drain plug at the bottom of the oil tank, so that all the old oil flows into the oil barrel containing waste oil;

4.Open the refueling cap of the fuel tank, take out the refueling filter element, and check whether the residual oil at the bottom of the tank and its edges and corners contains metal powder or other impurities. Clean the fuel tank thoroughly, first clean it twice with diesel fuel, and then blow dry the inside of the tank with compressed air. Check whether there is any residual sludge, impurities, etc. in the internal corners until it is clean, and finally rinse it with new oil.

Disassemble the following oil pipes

1.Remove the oil pipes in the oil return line, such as the oil pipes from the main control valve to the full-flow filter and return oil filter, and the oil pipes from the filter to the oil tank and oil cooler, etc.;

2.Disassemble the oil return pipe from the rotary control valve to the filter and the oil supply pipe of the rotary motor;

3.Remove the oil inlet pipe of the hydraulic pump;

4.Disassemble the pilot system return oil pipe;

5.Disassemble the drain pipes of the main pump and motor. Clean its oil pipes thoroughly. The steel pipes are cleaned twice with diesel and the hoses are cleaned twice with cleaning fluid, then blown dry with compressed air and rinsed again with new oil. Each joint should be blocked with nylon plugs or covers, or wrapped with clean plastic cloth to prevent dust, moisture, etc. from entering and contaminating the system;

6.Remove the filter elements of all filters in the system.When replacing the filter element, carefully check whether there is metal powder or other impurities on the filter element, so that you can understand the wear and tear of parts in the system;

7.Drain the old oil from the main hydraulic pump, swing motor, and traveling motor chambers, and fill them with new oil;

8.Install the oil pipe that has been disassembled. Before installing each oil pipe, be sure to clean the pipe joints again and wipe them clean with silk cloth. It is strictly forbidden to use cotton yarn, towels and other fiber fabrics to wipe the pipe joints. Sealing tape should be used when installing threaded joints and should be applied in the opposite direction of rotation of the threads. Each pipe joint should be installed and connected in order and according to the specified torque;

9.Fill the fuel tank from the refueling port. First install the refueling filter element, then open the new oil barrel, use an oil filter to inject new oil into the tank, add oil to the upper limit of the oil mark, and close the refueling cap.
