Why is the excavator boom unable to lift? Five major causes, six steps for quick resolution

There are many reasons for the slow lifting of the excavator boom. We will study these faults together and provide detailed analysis and diagnosis, so that we can minimize the occurrence of faults during construction and ensure the smooth progress of our construction.

There are three main reasons for the slow or weak lifting of the excavator boom: a decrease in the output power of the oil cylinder will cause the boom to lift slowly, and a decrease in the pressure difference on both sides of the piston will also cause the boom to lift slowly. A decrease in the flow output of the hydraulic oil pump will inevitably cause the boom to lift slowly! The details are as follows:

According to the above analysis, the reasons for the slow or weak lifting of the excavator boom may include the following aspects:

1. Reduced oil pump output flow: It may be due to a decrease in the overall efficiency of the oil pump, resulting in a decrease in actual flow rate. It is possible to check whether the oil pump leakage and mechanical friction losses have increased.

2.Reduced efficiency of the oil cylinder: oil leakage may be caused by damage to the sealing ring of the oil cylinder, pulling of the oil cylinder, or damage to the sealing ring of the oil cylinder head. You can check the sealing condition of the oil cylinder.

3. Oil leakage: It may be caused by leakage in the suction or pressure section of the oil pump, resulting in a decrease in oil flow rate and pressure. You can check the sealing condition of the oil circuit.

4. Oil circuit blockage: It may be caused by mechanical impurities blocking the oil circuit, resulting in a decrease in oil flow rate and pressure. You can check if the filter and radiator in the oil circuit are blocked.

5. Valve issue: It may be due to the safety valve setting pressure being too low or the valve not closing tightly, resulting in a decrease in oil pressure in the system. It is possible to check the operation of safety valves and one-way valves.

For the possible reasons mentioned above, the following six steps can be taken to quickly solve them:

1 Appearance inspection: Check for signs of external leakage in the main oil circuit, identify the cause of the oil leakage, and eliminate it.

2.Check the oil: Check the amount and quality of oil in the tank, replenish the oil or replace the deteriorated oil.

3. Check oil temperature: Check if the system oil temperature is too high, and if it is too high, cool it down.

4. Check the main safety valve: Check the adjustment and operation of the main safety valve, and adjust or replace the necessary components.

5.Check the oil pump: Check if there is a malfunction in the oil pump. If there is air leakage or severe wear in the suction duct, it needs to be repaired or replaced.

6. Check the oil cylinder: Check the sealing condition of the oil cylinder and the set pressure of the safety valve, repair or adjust the necessary components. By diagnosing and troubleshooting through the above steps, the problem of slow or weak lifting of the excavator boom can be quickly resolved.
